Computer & Internet Basic Training Class
Consultant / Coordinator Fidel Perez
Fidel Perez is a Guatemalan native who immigrated to Canada 20 years ago. His life experience and conscious desire to assist participants has brought him to Across Boundaries where he is using his gifts, strengths and sensitivity to support participants in reaching and achieving their goals. His own experience and resulting insight is of immense value to immigrants. Since 1998, the goals and objectives of basic computer skills training program has been to increase self-confidence and self-esteem. The participants will use the computer as a medium in finding their balance within their academic and spiritual growth. Each student is assessed according to the level of their knowledge and skills. An appropriate plan is then developed and recommended, that results in a Training Program that is divided into three progressive user-friendly levels.
1. Introductory level - TYPING TUTOR PROGRAM - By using this computer program, the student will become familiar with the keyboard use and the computer.
2. Intermediate level - WORD PROCESSOR - Participants with basic Word Perfect computer skills can access this level to improve and learn new skills.
3. Advanced level - The INTERNET - Participants who want to access information, resources, online job searches, personal e-mail, search engines, or freely navigate for entertainment may do so during this period. As well the Internet helps in connecting to each participant’s own ethnic media which aids in healing.
“I found that to witness how participants support one another by combining their knowledge and goals to complete assignments reinforces my confidence in their potential to succeed and become computer literate and more! Participants’ enthusiasm, energy and gregariousness serves to create an atmosphere of activity that enriches my dedication as well as their own. Overall the level of enthusiasm has exceeded my expectations. Your needs are my commitments” Consultant / Coordinator Fidel Perez
