  1. What does Across Boundaries do?

    2. Across Boundaries provides services and programs to individuals from racialized communities who are suffering from severe mental health distress and or addictions. These programs are offered to 3 target groups: Adult Mental Health and Addiction; Youth Mental Health and Substance Abuse; and Mental Health and Justice Initiative.

  2. How long has Across Boundaries been helping the racialized mental health community?

    3. Across Boundaries opened its doors in 1995 and has since then been serving communities of color.

  3. Where is Across Boundaries located?  What areas do you serve?

    4. We are located at 51 Clarkson Avenue (near the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West and Caledonia Road) and we serve the greater Toronto area.  We also have a youth program site (Y-CONNECT) at 10 San Romano Way (Jane and Finch).

  4.  Who exactly do you serve?

    5. We serve people from racialized communities (people of color communities such as South Asia, East and South East Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, West Asia, the Middle-East and Latin America) who experience Mental Health issues and/or addictions.

  5.  Who is eligible for your services?

    6. Any individual from a racialized community, who has a severe mental illness or mental health problem could be eligible.

    7. No

  7.  What is the referral procedure?

    8. Referrals to the agency are accepted from self, family member, community agencies, hospitals etc. For details, see Intake and Referrals.

  8.  How many clients does Across Boundaries currently have?

    9. On average we serve approximately 475 of clients annually and our client base continues to grow.

  9.  Who funds Across Boundaries?

    10. Across Boundaries is primarily funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care through the Central LHIN.  Across Boundaries is a registered charitable organization (Number: 14098262 RR 0001).

  13.  How do I volunteer?

    14. There are many areas at the centre where you can volunteer depending on your interest, skill, etc. Please call or e-mail us and we will refer you to the appropriate person for further information.
